Science and Common Sense

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingChapter

Abstract

Scientific method is not very different than what everyone does on a daily basis in coming to know about the world. Respect for evidence and reason are basic common sense and basic scientific method. So, disregarding scientific standards and results in selected aspects of life amounts to disregarding common sense. This is not to say that scientific method is perfect. It is important to note the limitations and potential misuse of the method. Unrealistic expectations will turn any imperfection into a reason to discount the whole thing.
