The assessment of tourist interest and behaviour is based on the results of 2 surveys. The 1st survey was conducted by the Singapore Tourist Promotion Board (STPB, 1985a) and emphasizes attractions visited. This survey provides a comparative context for understanding the perspective of the English speaking tourist. A 2nd survey, conducted by the author, obtained information on areas visited in Singapore, tourist interest in different types of attractions, and tourist evaluations of attractions (Lew, 1986). Most of the 150 respondents to this survey were from English speaking countries.-Author
